Why have oil prices been on the rise lately?

Here at Mauger & Co., we make it our mission to do whatever it takes to pass along as much savings as we can for heating oil delivery and comfort equipment installation and service. These past few months, we have heard from customers concerned about the rising cost of fuel oil. As your provider, we are too! As you know our prices go hand in hand with gas station prices. After all, heating oil is diesel. Right now, any product made from crude oil is experiencing inflated pricing due to a number of factors. Ultimately, over the past 50 years, there have always been international factors that can affect the price of heating oil. The best defense against American consumers being affected by those factors is to for government and industry to value and invest in domestic production – right now this is not happening, and it is unlikely that we will see a change in the behavior of the oil market until we see a change in the policies regarding oil and gas production here in the US.

What are we doing about it?

At Mauger, we do not raise our margins on customers like other providers do after a natural disaster, such as a hurricane. In many cases, we are able to find opportunities to pass along lower pricing throughout the year. Mauger provides discounts for customers who purchase larger quantities of oil for delivery. We also proudly offer discounts for Veterans and Seniors.  We also offer options for customers to pre-buy oil prior to the heating season at a fixed price that we are able to honor throughout the heating season should prices continue to rise.
